Way with words lands him top prize in Daily News 'Loose Parts' caption contest

Congratulations to our "Loose Parts" caption winner, Henry Stojak, from Columbia, Pa., located 60 miles from Harrisburg. The retired warehouse manager grew up in Port Richmond, where he'd walk two blocks to pick up a Daily News for his father every morning. Today, at 63, he's still following his father's example by reading the paper every day.

This is the first caption contest the father of three and grandfather of four has entered, but he said he plays a guessing game on his own nearly every time he picks up a Blazek comic.

"I think he thinks a lot like I do, or I think a lot like he does. I almost come up with the same caption before I even read his most days."

Stojak won an original signed drawing by Blazek and an autographed copy of the latest "Loose Parts" book, "weird things in small boxes" containing 200 cartoons from the past few years. The two runners-up, Damien Manno of Sicklerville, N.J., and Joe Seitz, of Clifton Heights, will receive copies of the book, too.

Here's the cartoon with Stojak's winning caption. And the caption written by Blazek?

"The drug's side effects are hair loss and weight gain. What did you THINK was going to happen?" *
