Fantastic Mr. Fox Wes Anderson's inspired adaptation of the Roald Dahl children's tale is a joy to behold - a visually dazzling example of stop-motion animation, but with the moves of a live-action film, and layers of wit and wisdom. George Clooney is the voice of the titular hero, a poultry thief who falls off the wagon, endangering the well-being of wife, family, and furry, four-legged friends. PG

Me and Orson Welles A struggling stage actor and director - full of himself and strapped for cash - mounts a production of Julius Caesar that changes the course of modern theater in Richard Linklater's wonderfully spirited period piece. Christian McKay steals the show as the pre-Citizen Kane Welles, and Zac Efron acquits himself nicely as the "me." PG-13

Up in the Air George Clooney and Vera Farmiga star in this darkly comic and timely tale about people who spend their lives ricocheting from airport to airport, racking up the frequent-flier miles - and wondering what happened to their souls.
