On December 12, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI sent his first tweet from @Pontifex. It read, "Dear friends, I am pleased to get in touch with you through Twitter. Thank you for your generous response. I bless all of you from my heart." Since then, the Pope has sent an additional eight tweets. He's currently got approximately 1.25 million followers who devoutly retweet him. So much so, that the Vatican felt it necessary to point out that Pope Benedict's first tweet was retweeted by about 50 percent of his followers, whereas one of the most popular tweets from The Biebz was only retweeted by about 0.7 percent of his followers—ipso facto, the Pope is totally pwning the Biebz up on the Twitters.
