Treadstone is real: Intelligence Council predicts superhumans by 2030

Hope you know how to subdue an assassin with a rolled-up magazine because Treadstone is real and we'll have superhumans walking around by 2030. That's what the futurists of the National Intelligence Council are predicting in Global Trends 2030. They're suggesting that "brain-machine interfaces" will be able to provide people with enhanced strength and speed and functions previously not available to us mere mortals. Additionally, they think that improvements in replacement limb technology may allow people to opt for enhancements just like with cosmetic surgery and people will become more cyborg-like. Who wants eye implants that enable night vision? The better question is, "Who doesn't want eye implants that enable night vision?". The report also says, ""Augmented reality systems can provide enhanced experiences of real-world situations. Combined with advances in robotics, avatars could provide feedback in the form of sensors providing touch and smell as well as aural and visual information to the operator." So, for those of you keeping score at home, the Bourne trilogy, the Terminator movies and Avatar are all coming true. Time to tame a Mountain Banshee and compile dozens of false identities with corresponding passports. [Wired]
