From Film to Installation
An upcoming discussion, hosted by the Slought Foundation, examines the history of video art.
During the late 60s there was a surge in the creation of video art. Artists like Peter Campus, Bruce Nauman, and Nam June Paik surfaced and brought attention to an art medium that the public found difficult to define.
Today, the divvying line between film and video installations is still a topic of discussion. Wednesday, April 3rd, the Slought Foundation invites the public to engage in a conversation on this very subject with Norwegian filmmaker and installation artist, Knut Åsdam and, art history professor and author, Kaja Silverman.
The evening's discussion, Instillation or Film: What is the Difference?, will be followed by a special screening of Åsdam's 1993 Video performance Come To Your Own and his 2008 film Oblique. The conversation doesn't end here, and will continue through events and screenings during Åsdam's October Mellon Artist-in Residence at the University of Pennsylvania.
