Pamela Anderson will do more than plug her perfumes when she visits two local Rite Aid stores on Jan. 23.
She's just lined up an appearance afterward: hosting the grand opening of 360, the lounge and nightclub at Parx Casino, which opened last month at Philadelphia Park in Bensalem.
Anderson is due in the house about 10 p.m., and it's a good bet she will arrive late. The club has a 40-foot stage, three nine-foot LED TVs, a 40,000-watt sound system, and an LED-lit lava dance floor.
Her Rite Aid appearances will be 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Narberth, and 2 to 3:30 p.m. in Ardmore.
Media notes
Anchor Monica Malpass announced on Action News yesterday that she is expecting in June. And it's twins. Malpass, who will be 49 in April, has a son, Jake, with ex-husband David Cutler. She is single and did not identify the father.
WIP-AM (610) morning talker Angelo Cataldi has re-signed a deal for four years. Cataldi's old pact expired last month.
Sports sorts
Comcast SportsNet is sponsoring a "man cave" at the Philadelphia Home Show, opening Saturday at the Convention Center. Along with sports memorabilia, designer Barbara Klazmer-Eiseman has installed two Spectrum seats alongside plush leather theater seats and the requisite 58-inch high-def TV. Phillies analyst Ricky Bottalico will sign autographs there from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday, and SportsNet's Marshall Harris will be there next Tuesday night.
Philadelphia Wings forward Geoff Snider is in New York, auditioning for MTV's Made. The show needs someone to train a girl from Long Island who wants to play lacrosse on her high school team. The Wings open their home season Saturday at the Wachovia Center. This year, Snider will be joined on the Wings by his younger brother, Bobby.
Fund-raisers
Saturday's Lemon Ball, the annual gala for the Wynnewood-based Alex's Lemonade Stand, raised a reported $600,000-plus, a record, drawing more than 800 people to the Marriott in Center City. American Idol sixth-season winner Jordin Sparks sang and Liz Scott, mother of charity inspiration Alex Scott, netted $14,000 for her batch of auctioned cookies. That's $1,000 per.
All politics is local. Mount Airy brewpub Earth Bread + Brewery is starting a drive to help the organization behind the movement to free three American hikers being held in Iran. Brewmaster/owner Tom Baker notes that the mother of Josh Fattal lives in Elkins Park. Baker has a batch of Scottish-style ale in his fermenter, and he'll send all proceeds to FreeTheHikers.org. Baker says he'll start serving it Thursday under the name "Free the Hikers," rejecting Inquirer columnist Daniel Rubin's suggestion, "Kurds and Lost Whey."
