Former Daily News intern Bradley Cooper came home to Philadelphia on Wednesday night to promote his directorial debut, A Star Is Born, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this week. Cooper, who also stars in the movie, held a private screening at the Prince Music Theater for hundreds of lucky fans, answering questions during a Q&A with CBS3's Ukee Washington afterward.

This is the third remake of the original 1937 film A Star Is Born, which starred Janet Gaynor as an up-and-coming actress involved with a fading star. The first reboot in 1954 starred Judy Garland and James Mason; the second, in 1976, starred Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.

In this version, Cooper plays a seasoned musician who falls in love with a struggling artist, Ally (Lady Gaga) while coaching her to stardom. The film also stars Andrew Dice Clay, Sam Elliott and Dave Chappelle. It has been gathering Oscar buzz on the film-festival circuit, and is expected to hit theaters on Oct. 5.

Cooper, who signed on to direct the film in 2015, dined at British gastropub The Dandelion after the screening and Q&A.
