A Delaware County woman who won a trip to Mexico on Live with Kelly and Ryan after undergoing a mastectomy is now cancer-free and will appear on the show.
Joan Leary of Garnet Valley first spoke with hosts Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest in October, when she won the show's "Call Me Live Travel Trivia" game. She had been in the hospital and missed the show, so she feared she would get the answers wrong. Seacreast, however, simply asked her whom she was speaking to, and she won the trip to a resort in Riviera Maya.
That recently topped a countdown of viewers' favorite moments from this year, prompting an on-air check-in with Leary by Ripa and Seacrest. They spoke with her via FaceTime on Wednesday, and she told them she was cancer-free, back at the gym, and feeling wonderful.
"You guys, you don't know what you've done for me," she said.
"You're just a ray of positivity, and I think you inspired a lot of people that day," Ripa told her.
Seacrest then invited Leary to appear on the show, and Ripa offered to take her to the gym when she's in town for filming. Leary agreed, but no date was announced.
Leary has yet to take her Mexico trip. She told Ripa and Seacrest she's going in March.
