Former NBC10 meteorologist Sheena Parveen leaves Washington, DC gig for San Diego station

Former NBC10 meteorologist Sheena Parveen is moving on from her position at the Washington, DC TV station she left Philly for back in late 2016 and heading to San Diego.

There, Parveen will work as NBC7's weekday morning and midday news meteorologist, according to a post from the station. She will begin appearing on-air in the San Diego area on Oct. 17 alongside anchors Marianne Kushi and Greg Bledsoe.

Parveen, a Florida native, joins the station from her gig at Washington, D.C.'s NBC4, where she also worked as a weekday morning meteorologist. Prior to her run in D.C. Parveen worked as the weekday evening meteorologist for Philly's NBC10, where she inspired a deep level of devotion from many local viewers.

Parveen joined NBC10 in 2011, prompting the Daily News to dub the meteorologist Philly local news' "It Girl." Her departure from NBC10 in Dec. 2016 inspired a flood of well-wishers online, and was one of several high-profile exits from Philly TV news that year, alongside Renee Chenault-Fattah, Lisa Thomas-Laury, Howard Eskin, and Walt Hunter.

"I am sad to leave the Philadelphia area and our passionate and loyal viewers," Parveen wrote of leaving Philly on Facebook in 2016. "I have enjoyed forecasting the weather here for almost 5 years, and helping to keep our viewers (you) safe. I will miss working with our amazing NBC10 First Alert Weather Team as they continue to keep you safe during times of severe weather."

While there is no replacing Parveen for many Philadelphians, the meteorologist's role at NBC10 has since been filled by Tammie Souza, a Pittsburgh native and Emmy-winning meteorologist who took over Parveen's former role at the station in Jan. 2017.

"While I've appreciated the opportunity to forecast all different types of weather events in different parts of the country, I'm excited to finally make my way to beautiful Southern California; an area I have dreamed of moving to," Parveen said of leaving D.C., NBC7 reports. "I'm thrilled to be working at NBC7 with such a great morning team and I hope San Diego will wake up with us every morning so I can help people have their best day!"
