More than 500 guests attended the Congreso de Latinos Unidos' Ninth Annual Gala Latina at the Hyatt at the Bellevue on March 21. The focus of this year's celebration of Latino culture was Santa Rosa de Copán, Honduras, home of the ancient Maya civilization. This year's honorary co-chairs were Jorge Alberto Milla Reyes, Honduras' ambassador to the United States, and Natalia Olson-Urtecho, regional director of the U.S. Small Business Administration, both of whom have worked tirelessly to advance Honduran and Latin American business trade. José Diaz-Balart, host of The Rundown with José Diaz-Balart on MSNBC, also attended. Congreso has been dedicated to serving Philadelphia's Latino community for 37 years. The evening raised more than $230,000, with proceeds to be used to support education, employment, health and social services.
