Celebrate the food and culture of Italy's Abruzzo region from 5-9 p.m. Sunday (rain date Wednesday) as Chef Joe Cicala, of Le Virtù (1927 E. Passyunk Ave., 215-271-5626), and guest chefs George Sabatino, of Stateside, and the busy Scott Schroeder (see first item) stage La Cottora, an outdoor winter festival, at Le Virtu. You have till Jan. 31 to take advantage of a great deal at Jake's & Cooper's Wine Bar (4365 Main St., 215-483-0444, jakesrestaurant.com). Sunday through Thursday this month, Chef Bruce Cooper is offering a four-course New Tastes for the New Year Menu for $35 a person.
It hasn't exactly been snowy, but cold, damp winter weather offers a reasonable excuse to sit by a fire and drink mulled wine at Chaddsford Winery (632 Baltimore Pike, Chads Ford, 610-388-6221, chaddsford.com). The Snow Bar - heated tents where you can sample wines and wine cocktails by the glass - is open 1-6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through March 31. Or try a wine & cheese tasting, $20 a person, noon-6 p.m. through Jan. 27. It's a guided sampling of the winery's dry- and sweet-wine selections, and you get a cheese tray and glass to take home.
