Yields 1 quart


6 large Honeycrisp apples, skin on, grated

1 tablespoon cinnamon

½ teaspoon nutmeg

½ teaspoon allspice

Pinch of cayenne

Salt, to taste


1. Combine all ingredients and simmer on very low heat for 2-3 hours until apples break down into a saucelike consistency.

2. Cool and serve.
