Dogfish Head tops list of craft breweries

The Daily Meal, known for its food lists, polled craft beer experts on their picks for the best craft breweries in the country.

That list was turned into a ballot, and after 11,500 votes from the general public, the resutts are in:

Dogfish Head, in Milton, Del., came out on top.

"Under the direction of  Sam Calagione, Dogfish Head will continue to be the gamechanger — and leader — when it comes to the world of craft beer," wrote the editors. "When I think of 'craft beer,' Dogfish Head is the first brewery that pops into my head," Jason Morgan, founding partner of Craft Beer Business, told The Daily Meal. "Their creativity and dedication to the craft beer tradition is inspiring."

Coming in at #17 was Victory Brewing, acknowledged as one of the oldest craft breweries in the country. Editors praised  the German malted barley and mix of both European and American whole-flower hops.
