Soft-opening for Cedar Point Bar & Kitchen
The Fishtown restaurant's operators had a place in Northern Liberties.
Shannon Dougherty and Liz Petersen are in soft-opening mode for Cedar Point Bar & Kitchen at Cedar and Norris in Fishtown (aka 2370 E. Norris St., across from Loco Pez, 215-423-5400).
The two spent 6½ years on Northern Liberties' Liberties Walk with their BYO/catering operation A Full Plate Cafe.
They have taken on partners Mindy Spellman, and Erin and Anthony Scavuzzo, who is bar manager, while obtaining a liquor license. Fifteen beer taps.
Cedar Point has a vaguely industrial look. There's also a large deck for outdoor dining.
Dougherty, the chef, describes the food as "70s housewife meets Southern comfort food." Lots of vegetarian and vegan items. Supper menu is here. Lunch/brunch menu is here.
Hours: Monday through Friday for lunch (11 to 3), bar menu (3-5), dinner (5-11), late night (11-1). On weekends, there's brunch (10-3), bar menu (3-5), dinner (5-11), late night (11-2).
Fishtown also awaits April's opening of Mugshot Diner (2424 E. York St.), just down the way from the outstanding Coffee House Too.
