A study conducted by Michigan State University found a correlation between depression and the amount of contact you have with technology.

The researchers asked 319 people to fill out psychological questionnaires pertaining to their use of multi-media outlets like television, internet, text messaging, etc. The finding suggests that people who engage in several activities between multiple devices suffered from both depression and social anxiety.

According to the researchers, individuals are receiving too much stimulus from the different forms of media that can affect their mood.
