Cops seek pizza-delivery robbers

Police are searching for two masked teens who robbed a pizza deliveryman at gunpoint in Northeast Philadelphia last night.

The thieves were wearing scarves over their faces when they leveled a gun at the deliveryman on Souder Street near St. Vincent at 8:10 p.m., then made off with about $700 in cash, police said. The deliveryman was not harmed. Those with any information concerning this crime should contact Northeast Detectives at 215-686-3153.

Big year for Big Brothers/Sisters

More than 4,000 adolescents found themselves in the warm embrace of a Big Brother or Big Sister in 2007, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Pennsylvania hopes to match just as many in the coming new year.

Local man gets IT mag's award

Franz N. Fruehwald, the chief information officer of Catholic Human Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, was named one of Computerworld magazine's 2008 Premier 100 IT Leaders.

Prayer service for Nutter

Say this for Mayor-elect Nutter: Plenty of folks are praying for him. The Religious Leaders Council of Greater Philadelphia will read sacred scriptures from Jewish, Muslim and Christian religions at a prayer service to be held in Nutter's honor on Jan. 3 at the Cathedral Basilica of Ss. Peter and Paul.

The religious leaders - including Cardinal Justin Rigali, Rabbi David Straus and Imam Anwar Muhaimin - also will pray for an end to violence. *
