But marijuana?

A teacher at Harrington Avery D School, at 53rd Street and Baltimore Avenue, did just that yesterday when one of her second-grade students brought a bag of marijuana to school and showed it off to his friends, police said.

One alert classmate notified the teacher and the authorities were called, said Lt. John Walker of Southwest Detectives.

Police searched the home of the child's father, Lamar Anderson, 28, of 54th Street near Warrington Avenue, Southwest Philadelphia, and confiscated more marijuana and crack cocaine, Walker said.

Anderson was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and narcotics offenses, Walker said.

Walker was dismayed by the incident and expressed concern for the child's well-being.

"Parents have to be responsible," he said. "They shouldn't have their kids around drugs or other contrabands." *
