Pope elevates 18 local priests to monsignor
Pope Benedict XVI has conferred papal honors on 18 local priests, Cardinal Justin Rigali announced yesterday. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia priests will receive the title of "monsignor," which has three ranks: prelate of honor, chaplain of his holiness and chaplain of his holiness named prelate of honor. The priests received the honor in recognition of their contribution to their churches.

The Archdiocese's oldest priest, Rev. Monsignor Daniel J. Kehoe, 97, who was ordained in 1939, is among the honorees.
