Chio unwired from Wire

C HIO, who has been on Philly's radio airwaves since 1995, said Friday that he was fired from his "Chio in the Morning" show on Wired 96.5.

C HIO, who has been on Philly's radio airwaves since 1995, said Friday that he was fired from his "Chio in the Morning" show on Wired 96.5.

"It's cool, I had a great time," he said. "When one door closes another door opens, but I'm not a quitter."

The station told him it was taking a different direction. Chio admitted that ratings on his morning show were not good and understood the station's decision. Wired will pay out the rest of his contract, which is not up until June.

Both Chio and an employee at Beasley Broadcast Group Inc., the company that owns Wired, said that co-hosts Shila and Tingle will remain in their posts.
