Age: 34
Her business: Beyond Hair is a 4,000-square-foot multicultural salon and spa known for "hair enhancements, cutting and natural hair care," said McKenzie.
Her trouble: McKenzie said that she contacted no-nonsense Aussie stylist Tabatha Coffey because she wanted a mentor to improve her management skills and hone her brand. (But, surely, she'll also need Coffey to find a hair ball, somewhere.)
Perspective: The business owner lost her mom to breast cancer in October. When Coffey introduced her to people combating and surviving the disease at the Cancer Support Community of Philadelphia, McKenzie learned about inspiration and teamwork.
Help wanted: Now that Beyond Hair is back on track, said McKenzie, "We're definitely looking for talent, and hoping that all those talented hairstylists, aestheticians, nail techs and massage therapists see our salon [on TV] and say, 'Hey, I want to be part of something that's greater than myself.'
