4 protesters arrested, 3 officers hurt during scuffle in North Philly

About 100 people gathered across the street from City Hall late Friday afternoon to protest against police abuses and then marched up Broad Street accompanied by scores of police officers on bicycles and patrol vehicles.

About 6:50 p.m., a scuffle broke out between police and some of the marchers outside the Bank of America branch at Broad Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue, next to Temple University.

A police spokeswoman said officers were hit with pepper spray and black spray paint. Twelve officers were exposed to the pepper spray, but only three required treatment. The bank also was vandalized.

Four people were taken into custody.

Some of the protesters also were exposed to the pepper spray.
