Gator, venomous snakes removed from N. Phila home

Animal control officers removed a small alligator and a three poisonous snakes from a rowhouse in North Philadelphia this morning, and arrested a man at the home.

Animal control officers removed a small alligator and a three poisonous snakes from a rowhouse in North Philadelphia this morning.

Police also arrested one man at the home on the 1100 block of Nevada Street.

The snakes were two rattlesnakes and a Gaboon viper, according to Liz Williamson, a spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania SPCA.

Owning such animals in Philadelphia is illegal, she said.
