Cheerleaders advance to national event

BUCKINGHAM The Central Bucks East High School varsity cheerleading squad will compete in a national competition in Florida in February after placing fourth at a regional event this month.

In mid-December, the 14-girl team competed in the Poconos and came in fourth out of 13 teams in the small varsity division.

That punched their ticket to Disney World, where on Feb. 8-9, hundreds of student cheerleaders from across the country will compete in the National High School Cheerleading Championship.

Parts of the event will be televised on ESPN and ESPN2.
