ATV driver killed in Mayfair accident

An unidentified male died Thursday after crashing an ATV into a fence in the Mayfair section of Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

The accident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. in the driveway between the 6600 blocks of Walker and Algard Streets, police said. The male was trying to make a turn onto Magee Street when he lost control.

When the ATV hit the fence, the male was thrown into the air and flipped over three times before hitting the ground. He was taken to Aria Health-Frankford Campus and was reported in critical condition with head injuries. He was pronounced dead at 1:55 p.m. - Robert Moran
