Police: Officer was dragged from car after traffic stop

The suspected driver of a stolen car sped off after being stopped by police in the city's Frankford section Wednesday night, dragging an officer for half a block before he was able to free himself from the vehicle, authorities said.

Police pursued the car, a white Audi, which crashed into another car in the 1900 block of Pratt Street at around 8:40 p.m. The driver was taken from the car and transported to Aria Health-Frankford Campus. Police did not indicate his condition.

The officer who was dragged sustained minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital with a lacerated right hand and an injured right shoulder, police said.

The driver of the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and also was taken to Aria Health. - Chris Mondics
