Woman, 23, hit by car, killed in Kensington

A 23-year-old woman was hit by a car and killed Friday evening in the city's Kensington section, police said. The woman was attempting to cross Lehigh Avenue at A Street when she was struck by a red Honda Civic. She was taken to the Episcopal Campus of Temple University Hospital and was pronounced dead at 6 p.m.

The driver attempted to flag down an ambulance traveling in front of him, then returned to the scene of the accident. He will not face charges, police said.
