Grinch robs elderly couple of life savings, Christmas cash

Two Grinchs forced their way into the home of a Middletown Township, Delaware County, octogenarian couple's home and stole thousands in cash.

Investigators from the Media barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police say someone broke into the home on the 100 block of S. Pennell Road between 9:30 a.m. and noon Monday.  The thief or thieves entered through a read door and headed to the bedroom.

There, they used some type of pry bar to open a home safe belonging to the homeowners, an 83-year-old man and an 80-year-old woman.  They stole some jewelry as well as a life savings of $4,500 in cash.

The victims told police they planned to use some of the money for Christmas presents for family and friends.
