A trip to the store for cigarettes turned into a life-threatening ordeal for a Delaware woman.

A trip to the store for cigarettes turned into a life-threatening ordeal for a Delaware woman.

The woman, 48, walked into a Wawa along Yorklyn Road in Hockessin last night and left her SUV running.

She returned to her vehicle, and prepared to drive off the store parking lot. Police say a man had entered the SUV and was hiding in the back seat.

The man told her he had a gun and that she shouldn't leave her car doors open, police said.

The woman then drove to an ATM because he had demanded money. After she gave the suspect cash, he got out of the car near Swift Park.

The suspect has not been seen since the robbery.

The woman was not injured.
