Cardinal John P. Foley will celebrate masses in the Philadelphia region this week.

Yesterday Cardinal Foley celebrated mass at St. Joseph's Preparatory School, his second mass in the area since becoming a cardinal. On Monday, Cardinal Foley - who was born in Darby and grew up in Delaware County - said mass at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Last month, Pope Benedict XVI made Foley a cardinal in a ceremony in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. He will continue to serve at the Vatican, as he has for 23 years, but is back in his native archdiocese this week to celebrate masses and to visit friends.

Here's Cardinal Foley's itinerary:

Thursday, Dec. 13 - Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, 18th Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Center City, 6 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 15 - Holy Spirit Church, 1028 School St, Sharon Hill, Delaware County, 5 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 16 - Sacred Heart, 105 Wilson Ave., Manoa, Delaware County, 12 p.m.
