The vice-principal of Gateway Regional Middle School was allegedly assaulted this morning, Woodbury Heights Police said.

Police received a call at 8:30 a.m. that a 38-year-old female used physical force with the school official.

The suspect, who is a parent of a student at the school, entered the building to speak with the vice-principal and was asked to return when she wasn't so angry. The parent then prevented the vice-principal from leaving his office and allegedly "chest bumped" him.

Police continue to investigate the incident. The names of the suspect and victim were not released.
