Phila administrator named Norristown superintendent

A Philadelphia School District administrator has been named superintendent of the Norristown schools.

Janet C. Samuels, a regional superintendent with the Philadelphia district who has also been a special education teacher and a principal, will start her new post on January 11. She was hired in a 7-2 vote last night. She replaces Lisa Andrejko who left in Juneto become superintendent of the Quakertown Area School District.

"I look forward to working collaboratively with teachers, staff, parents, and the community to make great things happen for the students of the Norristown Area School District," Samuels said in a written statement issued by the Norristown school board.

She has a Master of Public Administration from Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in Education from Drexel University.
