Nicetown robbery turns deadly

An Philadelphia man was shot dead late last night during an apparent robbery in the city's Nicetown section, police said.

Kareem McCoy, 27, of East Mount Airy, was standing near the intersection of 15th and Pike Streets about 11:30 p.m. when a gunman opened fire, striking McCoy in the head, police said.

McCoy was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:28 a.m., police said.
