There will be intermittent closures of the ramp that takes motorists from the Pennsylvania Turnpike at the Fort Washington interchange to Pennsylvania Avenue today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

Weather permitting, there will be up to four closures each day, and each closure will last about 15 minutes. Traffic exiting the turnpike will be detoured onto Route 309 North when crews set beams for the Route 309 bridge over the turnpike ramp.

During the closures, drivers who want to reach Pennsylvania Avenue or Route 309 South will be detoured north on Route 309 to the Highland Avenue exit. They will turn left onto Highland and then make an immediate left onto the ramp leading to Route 309 South. Motorists can proceed south on Route 309 or exit onto Pennsylvania Avenue. Detours will be posted.    - Inquirer staff
