Burlco offers new library service

The Burlington County Library System has launched a new service that gives cardholders' access to materials sent directly to their homes.

The Burlington County Library System has launched a new service that gives cardholders' access to materials sent directly to their homes.

The Netflix-style program, Library in a Bag, is funded through a $50,000 grant from the South Jersey Regional Library Cooperative.

Members of the library system may request items online or by calling any of the 19 BCLS locations. The library will pay for delivery. Customers are encouraged to return materials at a branch or member library, a bookmobile or any book return. Users may also mail the items back at their own expense.

"We're trying to reach busy people, those who can't get to a library when it's open because of job schedules, childcare issues, transportation or lives that are otherwise just too busy," Gail Sweet, library director, said in a statement.

Customers are eligible to receive any item the library has available. To make a request, call 609-267-9660, ext. 5011 or email libinbag@bcls.lib.nj.us.
