It's happening next Thursday to mark the national Dump the Pump Day. That's the third annual event by transit agencies to encourage people to get around without driving.

The Transportation Management Association of Chester County says it picked 35 cents because that was the base fare for public transit in Philadelphia during the 1973 oil crisis.

Base fares of Chester County TMA buses normally range from $1.25 to $2.50. Surcharges for going beyond zone boundaries will be waived in the one-day promotion.
