A Florida woman pleaded no contest to a charge she tried to bring a dangerous weapon into the the William J. Green Federal Building in Philadelphia.

The July incident led authorities to close down nearby streets in the historic area and evacuate the building.

Prosecutors say Kathy Boumpani of Palm Coast will remain free pending her scheduled March 18 sentencing. Her husband, Louis Boumpani, remains jailed on the same charge.

Federal authorities say the pair tried to bring knives and shotgun shells through the building's metal detector. The couple said they wanted to talk to the FBI about mortgage fraud. Kathy Boumpani told a magistrate their house had been foreclosed on.

Her potential sentence ranges from probation to two years in custody.       - AP
