Victim of Chester shooting ‘extremely critical’

An 18-year-old man was shot in the head early Saturday morning in Chester, police said.

An 18-year-old man was shot in the head early Saturday morning in Chester, police said.

Miguel Carrion was found lying on the sidewalk at the Crosby Square Apartments at 1:08 a.m. with a single gunshot wound to the head, surrounded by around 100 people.

Yet police say no witnesses have come forward.

When Chester Police officers arrived on the scene, several altercations broke out between different groups within the crowd. The scene had to be forcibly secured before paramedics were able to attend to Carrion.

The victim was transported to the Crozer Chester Medical Center trauma unit. He's listed in extremely critical condition.

Karen Walker, the Crosby Square apartment manager, said the incident is indicative of ongoing violence in the city and that Carrion was "an innocent person.

"I see these tenants all the time," she said. "I'm too emotional to really talk about it."
