A Newark, Del., man was killed early this morning after trying to pass a tractor trailer on a ramp from the Blue Route (I-476) into southbound I-95, according to Pennsylvania state police.

About 2:15 a.m., after the 1995 Chevrolet GM4 clipped the front of the tractor trailer, the pickup lost control, crossed a snow-covered embankment, and wound up spinning on its roof on I-95.

After being extricated, the driver, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene, which is in Ridley Township.

He was not wearing a seatbelt, and no airbag deployed, police said.

His name was being withheld this morning pending notification of kin.

The tractor trailer driver, a 53-year-old man from Warminster, was uninjured. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The pickup struck "the front driver side floor step and quarter fender," according to the state police news release.
