Man robs N.E. Phila. bank at gunpoint

Law enforcement officials are looking for a man who robbed a bank in Northeast Philadelphia at gunpoint yesterday.

The bandit entered the First Republic Bank branch at 8764 Frankford Ave. in Pennypack Woods about 3:10 p.m. and pointed a small handgun at a teller.

After grabbing an undisclosed of cash, he fled on foot.

The FBI said the robber is 6-feet 2-inch tall white male in his 20s or 30s with a stocky build and a thin beard and mustache.

He was wearing a black knit cap, a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black hooded jacket, officials said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 215-418-400 or the Philadelphia police.

The FBI said the man should be considered armed and dangerous.
