Boy gravely hurt in fire

A 12-year-boy pulled from a burning house in North Philadelphia was transported to a hospital with no reported vital signs Monday night, fire officials said.

A 12-year-boy pulled from a burning house in North Philadelphia was transported to a hospital with no reported vital signs Monday night, fire officials said.

Firefighters were called at 9:56 p.m. to the 1800 block of North 27th Street and found a two-story building with smoke showing, officials said. The boy was pulled from the house and transported by a medic unit to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

The fire was placed under control at 10:10 p.m. The medical unit en route to the hospital reported that the boy was showing no vital signs.

A Fire Marshal's Office investigator has arrived on scene to determine a cause of the brief fire.
