Fatal shooting by Chester cop ruled justified

An officer-involved shooting that took the life of a Chester man was justified, the Delaware County district attorney's office announced today.

An officer-involved shooting that took the life of a Chester man was justified, the Delaware County district attorney's office announced today.

On Aug. 5, Daniel Simms, 21, died as a result of his injuries. According to the written announcement, Simms pointed a loaded handgun at the Chester Police Department officer. The officer, who was not identified, "discharged his service revolver." The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. in the unit block of 23d Street.
