A 53-year-old blind woman survived an attack in her home early this morning, reportedly thanks to her seeing-eye dog.

About 3:30 a.m., the attacker choked the woman in her upstairs bedroom in the 4100 block of Edgley Street in North Philadelphia, police said.

Police could not confirm, however, some details reported by TV, that the woman fell down some stairs, that the dog chased the attacker away, and that the dog used a device to alert authorities.

The woman was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where she was in stable condition, police said.
