Reward posted in Norristown slaying

Norristown is home to two unfortunate trends - violent crime and witness silence.

Norristown is home to two unfortunate trends - violent crime and witness silence.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman and Norristown Police Chief Russell Bono are hoping that a $5,000 reward will prod people who may have information in the slaying of Ryan Ladson-Singleton to talk to authorities.

Ladson-Singleton, 21, was found in the early morning of Oct. 20 on a Norrsitown sidewalk on Green Street after being shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, with an autopsy finding he had died from gunshot wounds to the head and torso.

Authorities say numerous community members and witnesses may have information about the shooting, but no one has talked with investigators.

A news release this morning from Bono and Ferman noted that the Norristown Police Department has been frustrated in other violent-crime cases by witnesses refusing to cooperate, including in an investigation into a Nov. 21 shooting on the 900 block of Polk Alley.

In that case, the victim's brother was standing beside his brother when the incident occurred. Both he and the victim have refused to talk to police. Two victims of a Nov. 12 shooting in the 600 block of Chain Street, as well as witnesses to it, also have refused to cooperate with police.

"Without cooperation from citizens and witnesses, it is impossible for members of law enforcement to bring justice for the death of Ryan Ladson-Singleton and other victims of violent crime," Ferman said.

Anyone with information on the Ladson-Singleton shooting or other cases can call the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office Detective Bureau at 610-278-3368.
