Girl, 5, shoots self in foot in Kensington

A 5-year-old girl accidentally shot herself in the foot in the city's Kensington section.

The girl found the gun inside a home on the 1800 block of East Wishart Street shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday and shot herself in the toe, according to Philadelphia police.

She was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital in stable condition, police said.

It wasn't clear how the girl obtained the gun and who owned the weapon.
