Cops: Del. man allegedly stole diamond rings at Thanksgiving dinner

Thanksgiving is traditionally observed as a time for loved ones to gather around a meal and celebrate their blessings. But one Delaware man was apparently not feeling the holiday spirit this year. He's accused of stealing jewelry from an elderly woman Thursday as she prepared him Thanksgiving dinner.

Officers with the New Castle County Police Department responded around 11:40 a.m. Monday to a home on in the Birchwood Park area of Newark. There, a 71-year-old woman told them that on Thanksgiving, someone had stolen two diamond rings from her kitchen table. She said she took off the rings as she was getting ready to prepare potato salad. But when she was done cooking, she realized the jewelry was missing.

Police reviewed a list of the victim's Thanksgiving guests, including family friend and neighbor Christopher Sulo, 26, who came over to help cook the turkey. Investigators said they were soon able to match up rings Sulo had recently sold with those stolen from the victim.

Sulo was arrested at his home and charged with two counts of felony theft. He was released on $6,000 unsecured bail and ordered to have no contact with the victim.
