Suspect named 'Slime' arrested in Bethlehem strip club murder, cops say

A man who goes by the nickname "Slime" has allegedly lived up to his sleazy moniker, as he stands accused of killing a man Jan. 26 outside a Bethlehem strip club.

Slime is apparently slippery as well. Though he was in April charged by criminal complaint with one count of homicide, investigators didn't catch up with him until about a week ago.

Slime, 21, whose birth name is Ulysses Rodriguez, was arrested in Suffolk County, N.Y. and returned Thursday to Lehigh County.

Investigators said Rodriguez shortly after 1:30 a.m. shot Tyree Wimberly, 21, multiple times in the chest outside Scoobies Gentlemens Club, located at 2327 Hanover Ave. Officers found Wimberly lying in the street and rushed him to St. Luke's University Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Prosecutors credited the Lehigh County Regional Intelligence and Investigation Center in Allentown with playing "a crucial role" in helping police find the address where Rodriguez was allegedly driven after the shooting.

Investigators' initial clues consisted only of descriptions of the suspect and of a dark-colored SUV with unique tail lights seen speeding away from the shooting. 

Detectives then recovered surveillance video from inside the bar showing a man matching the suspect's description who left the club shortly before the shooting. A witness told police the man caught on camera was known as "Slime." A witness also said Slime drove to the club in his girlfriend's Honda CRV.

Police obtained a court order and used phone records of a man acquainted with Slime to track down more witnesses. From there, detectives were able learn the shooting suspect was allegedly driven to the 900 block of Walnut Street in Allentown. After further investigation, a warrant was issued for Rodriguez's arrest.

Rodriguez, who has no known address, was set to be arraigned Thursday in Lehigh County Central booking. Prosecutors said no bail would be set.
