Philadelphia police are looking for a driver who struck and killed a 58-year-old man on City Avenue in the Wynnefield section of the city late Tuesday and later abandoned the car across town in the Logan section, police said.
Anthony Rodgers of the 5600 block of Woodcrest Avenue in Overbrook was attempting to cross City Avenue at 54th Street about 10 p.m. when he was hit by a car headed northbound, police said. He was taken by medics to Lankenau Medical Center and pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m.
The car that hit Rodgers was driven off. Police found a hood logo from a Lexus on the street.
Police said a red Lexus lacking a logo and with considerable damage, including a smashed windshield with blood, was later found on the 4600 block of North 19th Street. They did not immediately say what led them to the car.
The investigation was continuing.
