N. Philly man charged with murder after human remains found in Tioga

A 44-year-old North Philadelphia man has been arrested and charged in the 2014 death of his then-girlfriend, whose remains were found in June buried six feet underground at a Tioga construction site, police said Wednesday.
Jermele Hudson, also known as Jermele Bishop, of the 2800 block of North 25th Street was charged over the weekend with murder, abuse of corpse, and access-device fraud in the death of Pamela Lewis, 40, of the 2100 block of College Avenue in North Philadelphia.
Lewis had been reported missing by family members on Aug. 4, 2014. Through their investigation, police learned that she had been in a physical fight with Hudson.
It wasn't until June 27 that her remains were found — by accident. Private contractors excavating an empty lot on the 1700 block of West Atlantic Street, saw possible human remains and contacted a supervisor, who called 911. Portions of a human skeleton, jaw bone, and limbs were found, but police did not immediately know the person's identity or cause of death.
The remains were determined to belong to Lewis, police said Wednesday. Hudson, who is in custody and was denied bail, faces a preliminary hearing Oct. 25. No attorney was listed for him.
