Police are looking for a man who hit a female runner with a stick at a New Jersey state park in Salem County.

The woman was running near a foot bridge on the "green trail" at Parvin State Park in Pittsgrove Township about 5 p.m. Monday when the man allegedly grabbed her by the shoulder and hit her in the face and neck with the stick, New Jersey State Park police said.

The woman, who was not seriously injured, was able to hit the suspect in the face and then run to a campsite, where she found a state park police officer.

The man, who may have facial injuries, was wearing a black t-shirt and navy blue short sweatpants, police reported. He is described as being approximately 20-30 years old, with fair skin and red cheekbones. He is 6-feet, 2-inches tall with a skinny build, brown eyes, short dirty blonde hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call the State Park Police Detective Bureau via the state Department of Environmental Protection’s 24-hour line at 1-877-927-6337.
