Baby's death in foster care investigated

The infant had been sleeping in a bed with her foster mother and the woman's boyfriend, police said.

A 3-month-old baby was found unresponsive Saturday morning while in bed with her foster mother, and later died, Philadelphia police said.

The foster mother called 911 at 5:53 a.m. after the infant was found unresponsive in a home in the 5900 block of Haverford Avenue in West Philadelphia, police said. The foster mother's boyfriend had also been sleeping in the bed, according to police. The infant was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where she was pronounced dead 50 minutes later.

No further information was available.
